I can’t thank them enough for allowing me the privilege to photograph their beautiful wedding.

Per Angela, they weren’t that photogenic (puhleeze…!!!) and she wanted something easy. So, I scoured and I scoured. And then I found “it”! As soon as I told Angela about it, she was all over it. Phew!!! (Love when my client has faith in my skills)
Okay, so the drive up to this location was a little scary (I was shaking in my boots and so was my assistant, Joe) but this place really is a photographers dream!! If you want country? This is the place.
It was a beautiful day and my so-called shy couple??? SO NOT SHY!!! They were so hot that my camera decided to check out. (Thank God for back-up’s!)

The very idea just makes my heart race but this couple seems to embrace this craziness. Ashley is so calm and collected, while Mike just laughs. They are the perfect fit.
So, two days after the couple was told they won their dream wedding, we met for engagement pictures at the Santa Ana Zoo. I’m pretty sure they thought I would have them posing near caged animals but I assured them it wouldn’t be cheesy. I truly wonder if they believed me? I think they did! I think?!?!

He claimed there was no way that our son would dress up or allow me to capture it on camera. But when I’m sold on a concept there is just no room for negotiation.
So, I went in search of inexpensive materials to pull off my idea. That was ooober easy, actually.
I wanted simple but still festive. That’s not that easy to pull off, you know!
The first attempt to shoot our holiday photos was an epic failure. It rained. So, we put the shoot off for a week.
The second attempt was AWFUL. Ella cried the entire time and Isaac hid behind trees. (heaven forbid someone see him!) I lost my cool at this shoot. We left as quickly as we arrived and drove home in silence.
The third attempt was so tossed together and so not ideal but it was perfect!
Ella was in a terrific mood, willing to pose and do all sorts of silly things she usually refuses to do! And Isaac?? Totally willing to take one for the team!
I was so happy, so very happy.
Our card this year meant a lot to me….it was (dare I say?) a total labor of love!

It feels like yesterday

That small part just rocked my world.

I look at my kids and I am overwhelmed.
Where have I been? When did they get so big?
Isaac’s out growing everything and forming opinions all on his own.
And now my Ella is wearing my heels? When did this happen?

So for now, my little Ella struggles to walk in my heels and I know in time, that’s not going to be the case.
She’s growing…up…sooooo…fast….

For the first time in my life, I don’t want to focus on my tomorrows.
Why?
Well because I really have loved almost all of my yesterdays.

My Ella and I had so much fun doing this challenge. And if you are confused as to why we chose monkeys? Well, that was all Ella! I told her we needed to find two happy animals (she calls them babies) to take pictures of and these are the lovies she chose. Yes, one of them is Curious George in a dress, wearing a silly headband but go with it. Oh, and the other monkey happens to belong to my son. Prior to this shoot he was dressed in military gear…hahaha.
Silly monkeys!
Oh! And just so you know, Ella was also very much involved in the editing process. Together we decided on the colors and what pictures we liked best.
So much fun sharing something I love with someone I love.

Anywhoodle, this is week 1.
I had all these creative ideas and in the end, I felt like I was just really trying to hard. It’s not my style to go all dramatic! To keep it easy on myself and my models kids, I just went with it.
