Every wedding sticks out for one reason or another. And when it came to writing this blog, I struggled. Blog writing for the weddings I photography can be difficult because there are so many things I could say. Looking back, this wedding was all about the details. The ones that made me smile and the ones that made me cry.
I’ve known Shayna’s sister, Jayme, for 7 years and at that time, Shayna was in High School. Feels like sooo long ago.
So last year when my friend informed me that her sister was engaged, I was taken aback. Wasn’t it just yesterday that she and I were planning our weddings? It’s crazy.

The details at this wedding were beautifully personal and heartfelt. For instance, Hummingbirds. Two of them. One for Casey, Shayna’s sister and one for Natalie, Nic’s sister.
Both sisters taken from Nic, Shayna and their families much too soon.

So much of this day was about Casey and Natalie. Little touches of both sisters throughout the entire wedding, which was most important to the couple.
2 beanie babies sat at the couple’s head table. These bears had belonged to Natalie and were a gift to her Brother, Nic.
And before Shayna walked down the aisle, her Mom helped her put on jewelry. A hummingbird necklace and bracelet, both in memory of Casey.

The entire day was just perfection. Beautiful cool weather in the middle of summer, heartfelt speeches and the tears of joy from friends and family.
Nic and Shayna are just the sweetest. And I personally just love when perfect couples and their beautiful families celebrate the love that just is; I really do.

Ashley & Mike | MYfm Wedding in a Week | Costa Mesa Orange County Wyndham Wedding

To pull off a wedding in a week it takes love, sweat and tears. But most importantly, a team of vendors you can trust.
Ashley and Mike had just that.
This couple defied the odds and won an incredible wedding through a local popular radio station, MYFM 104.3. How amazing is that? And what a story to share with their children and grandchildren, someday.

Billy & Marlene Talamera | Claremont | Puddingstone Wedding Photographer

Billy and Marlene stole my heart the very first time I met them. I told Marlene a few days later that I just couldn’t wait to document their wedding and I sincerely meant every word.
Billy and Marlene’s wedding was full of so many incredible moments, that it’s hard to even blog them. But there was one part that just sticks with me…and I have to share it….
Early in the morning on the day of the wedding, Marlene was stressing that her handwriting and paper she chose for her vows looked messy. While she questioned re-doing them, one of her girls reminded her that it wasn’t a big deal, that it’s what she spoke of that would matter. How true those words were…
Marlene’s vows were so honest and heart-felt. She spoke of how much Billy has changed her, how he was her shoulder and how she couldn’t wait to spend their forever together. And when she started to speak to Billy’s children about how she would embrace being their Mother, even Billy’s daughter had to wipe her tears. Really, so much love at that moment. And when it came to Billy’s vows…he…well…he SANG! As in, he sang to Marlene.
As a guest or even photographer, when you can walk away from a wedding and cannot honestly pin-point your favorite moment, you know it’s special.

And a quick side note: I personally would like to nominate Billy for the “THE BEST GROOM PERFORMANCE DURING THE REMOVAL OF THE GARTER TOSS” award. Billy and his “Posse” were epic…

Susan & Tom | Maternity Photography | Huntington Beach

Tom is my cousin. I would say older and wiser but that’s totally not true! (ha! I kid, I kid! sorta!) Let’s just say that Tom got me into all sorts of trouble when we were growing up!
Susan is new to our family but I already love her. We bonded on our Summer Vacation with lots of girl talk, that’s important! Of course it doesn’t hurt that we discussed some of my favorite topics…like babies, photography and trip planning. Susan is witty, honest and a great conversationalist. Though what I adore most about Susan is the amazing impact she has had on Tom. He’s soooo changed, in all sorts of wonderful ways. (awwww…)
Baby Zander is going to be one lucky little dude…

Juliet & J.R./Kost Wedding 103.5 | Orange Engagement Session

A few months ago I was asked by Michelle Tortuya, of The Charming Little Event, if I were interested in photographing a wedding hosted by KOST 103.5. There were so many exciting elements to this wedding and well…of course…I had to do it! After all, it’s Michelle and she’s an amazing Wedding Coordinator/Extraordinaire.
On October 4th, the winners were announced. They were described as a sweet couple who had been together since High School and had been planning to marry for several years. Adorable! Honestly, I can’t even imagine what it might feel like to win something so incredible. I mean, I’ve won contests before, but nothing as lush as this! I mean, a Wedding? WOAH!!!
It’s a dream come true, it really is…

Manuel & Sandy | Orange County Couples Session

As the sun began setting, Sandy was blinded by the sun’s brilliant rays. Without any hesitation, Manny lifted his hand and shielded her eyes. It was done so sweetly and yet so tenderly, that it made me feel like a bit of an intruder. Their admiration and devotion for each other was not for the camera, it was genuine. They have a perfect love, the kind that requires little effort and it really was something beautiful to capture.
